Over the past eight years, Cheerios has given away more than 40 million children’s books by distributing them free inside cereal boxes and has donated $3.2 million to First Book, their non-profit partner, which provides books to children from low-income families. The program is part of Cheerios’ ongoing commitment to helping parents provide their children with a healthy, nutritional and educational foundation.
Beginning this month, Cheerios is again bringing books to the breakfast table, by providing six million children’s books free inside Cheerios boxes. To help spread the word I was sent a great gift package courtesy of Cheerios, including a huge box of Cheerios with a book inside, a copy of each book they are giving away, plus a $25 giftcard to Barnes & Noble!
My children and I have had the pleasure of reading through all 5 of the books! Some are simpler and some have a bit more to them. I have to say my favorite is Ballyhoo Bay (by Judy Sierra) because the pictures in it are so bright and wonderful. These are fairly small paperback books, which makes them great to stick in a purse or diaper bag! My other favorite was Tea for Ruby (by Sarah Ferguson), but it’s a bit girly so my young boys didn’t take to it. The other books are Junkyard Fort (Jon Scieszka), Sleepyhead (by Karma Wilson) and What's Under the Bed? (by Joe Fenton). One more thing to mention about the books is that they also have the words in Spanish on each page, while I think the goal was to reach those who don’t read English I think this could be great for bi-lingual families or those trying to learn Spanish.
Now do you want to win a package of what you see above? I mean I know you all want that giftcard to get yourself a new book or two right? Well here’s what you have to do….

Since I have 5 kids of very different ages I read to the 2 youngest and then I read to the middle one and have him read it back to me then I let the older 2 read to me.
Well, my kids absolutely loved story time when they were smaller. We had a HUGE Dr. Seuss collection (still do) and every night the boys would pick out something new. Sadly our first two got way more stories than our younger two. I took more time with two than when I had four. *sigh*
Happy Friday Erica!
And no, I never wanted to make my TV Debut in a bikini --- but I didn't. I've been on TV a few times before, so ha! =0)
Storytime is snuggle up together on the couch to read a story. It might be a favorite or a new find from the library, but it is a favorite time of mine.

What a neat thing this is!!
Story time with my boys is tough... they do NOT sit still!! Usually its bed time when I can make then stay in bed. :)
God bless-
Amanda
I don't have kids yet but I picture cuddling with them reading to/with them while they are in bed. It would be a nice time of closeness and sharing the importance of reading together.

Since they were babies, we have read at nap and bedtime. They will not sleep without reading at least three books. We also read for about an hour or two throughout the day. I would love to add these books to our collection.

Storytime is at naptime and bedtime for us. My youngest son has a big laundry basket (I need to get him a bookshelf) next to his bed, filled with books. He picks out the one he wants my husband or I to read. It's such a relaxing time and a great way to wind down before bedtime.

for us, story time is at bed time. we like to read in bed right before i tuck my daughter in. clallen at ntin dot net
I will read when my kids want to. Also we have story time each night before bed, each child gets to pick a book to be read.
We read off and on throughout the day, but we have a set routine at bedtime. My 5 year old chooses 2 books to read to me and then I read 2 different ones to him (usually more difficult ones), but I let him help with the words he recognizes. He loves it!

Following!
Gone are the days of storytimes with my kids (they're in high school now), but I have instilled the love of books in them. Our favorite from long ago was...can't pick one. We did love Sandra Boynton books.
And we love Cheerios, too! :)
Oh, and by the way - of COURSE I follow!
Storytime was always right before bedtime after the kids are in their PJ's. My favorite part of story time was the cuddling. My kids can read for themselves now so we don't have a nightly storytime anymore.
now following you.
We love storytime! My daughter enjoys books - I'm so relieved because I've always loved to read and so I'm glad she does too. We don't have a ritual, we read anytime, anyplace. I usually let her choose the book.
Thanks for a great giveaway.

I would read to my kids often. But our special routine was if they got ready for bed and got right into bed, they could stay up later reading in bed. They loved this.
I have 5 kids of various ages but everyone is invited to storytime. We sit in the living roo & I read aloud to them. I just love reading some of the old Grimms Fairy tales. I also sometimes read chapter books & read a little each day :) They love it!
